About Our Name
Asaba Association, Inc. derived its name from the city of Asaba, the current capital of Delta State, Nigeria.  Asaba is approximately 200 square kilometers in size and is situated North of the equator by the River Niger.  Asaba, also known as “Ahaba”, was founded by Nnebisi and is comprised of five Ebos: Unuezei, Ugbomanta, Umuagu, Umuaji and Umuonaje, each of which was founded by the grandsons of Nnebisi.

Asaba is traditionally ruled by the Asagba of Asaba, to whom the head (“Diokpa”) of each Ebo reports directly in matters affecting Asaba as a whole. The Asagba title is rotated among the five Ebos in a ceremony where the Asagba Stool (introduced in 1780) is passed from one Ebo to the other.
